Crazy Colorado Weather
The afternoon thunder storms have been rolling in lately. Being from Southern California it is something I am definitely not use to! But I have to say I am really enjoying this crazy weather! We wake up to the most beautiful mornings and then around 3 the most treacherous clouds start to roll in. We are always hearing the severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings on t.v., but most of them are for north-east Colorado. But this last Sunday we were getting the warnings for Douglas County which is where we live. A little scary! We were sitting on our back patio watching the storm roll in and as soon as Morgan thought the lightening was getting close we got in doors!

Our Saturday Night Smoke Feast with the Neighbors
We are having lots of fun getting to know our neighbors! We are starting to hang out more and more with them all and it has been so fun! Saturday night we had a wonderful smoke feast with the Moroni family; Chad, Melissa, & little Freddy. Morgan and I spent the day tending to the pork shoulder and ribs on the smoker. I also made home made Mac & Cheese and Corn Souffle. Oh, and 2 different home made BBQ Sauces. So once our part of the cooking was finished we loaded their wagon up with all the goods and headed down the street to their house. Melissa made steamed asparagus and a delicious home made Berry Pie. So as you can tell, we had quit the feast! Oh, and it was quit delicious!!! We have a lot of fun with them! Morgan and Chad get along great! They have similar interests such as socializing, golf, playing the guitar, indulging in a cocktail or 2 or 3... (Lets just say they could be dangerous together!) They are quit a riot to be around! (Oh, and Chad totally reminds us of my Uncle Steve! I think they were cut out of the same mold! Lets just say, they are both extremely funny!) Melissa and I also have similar interests such as decorating, antiques, gardening, painting, shopping... We like to chat about our next projects we have on our list. And of course that list for both of us is endless but fun! And then there's their little guy Freddy. He is 16 months old and adorable! So hopefully someday we will have a little one and get to join in on the parenting fun!

My Garden
So... I wasn't sure if I was going to have a green thumb or not! And I guess I do! I have really enjoyed being out in the yard and mastering this whole gardening thing! It has been so fun to watch all of our perennials come back to life and then adding some new plants to our garden! I had a feeling I was really going to enjoy gardening because first of all... I love to be outside! And secondly... it runs in the genes. My Mom, Grandmom DeForest, & Grandmom Heiser all love to garden! So here are some photos to show proof of my green thumb!
I give all the credit to Morgan for the green grass! He's in competition with our next door neighbor, Scott. Who can have the greenest grass! |
Love having fresh cut flowers from my own garden! |
Can't wait to see all these Rose Buds bloom! |
Soon to be Daisy's! |
And soon to be Peonies! |
My beautiful Hydrangea! |
Pictures to follow once they all bloom!

And It Continues...
Before getting the outside painted we decided the back deck needed to be refinished. So Morgan started the project by getting all the supplies we needed from Home Depot and starting the first step... Stripping the old stain with a very strong product that ate the skin away on his arm. OUCH! Thank goodness we stripped it before we got the outside painted because it would of destroyed the siding paint. After the stripping step, a mildew and mold product had to be applied. And then the final step before staining was sanding. Oh Man, this was quit a project!!! And then to pick just the right color was another whole ordeal because it had to go with our new paint color and our new patio furniture. So 4 samples later we found the perfect color! We are so happy with the way it turned out and it is so rewarding to sit out there and think WE DID THIS! So, another DIY project we completed together (with a few arguments along the way) and we're still happily married!

The Never Ending Project...
We are having lots of fun fixing up our house and really making it feel like ours! The projects just seem to keep on brewing! Our last project was having the outside of our house painted. It was quit a project picking out just the right color. After spending about $50 on samples we ended up going with something completely different. We originally picked out a gray-green color and then at the last minute we were out walking the neighborhood and we found another color that we both loved. So we quickly got it approved and the whole project started right on time and was finished in 4 days. Boy, do those guys work hard! We are so happy with the final results! It is so nice to have a freshly painted house!

Along with getting the outside painted we had the oak railing in the house painted white. I love the look of all white wood accents. I love the way it turned out!
